We love beeswax here at the Scandinavian Crayon Company. It’s a natural, renewable resource that makes a great alternative to crayons made using fossil fuels. Each crayon that we make contains up to 20% beeswax. The beeswax produces a wonderful scent that adds to the sensory experience of drawing. It can be a soothing pass time for grown ups and children and with the addition of the gentle aroma of the crayons, we think it’s just lovely!

The beeswax is a hard working ingredient. Not only does it smell heavenly, it helps the crayon glide smoothly across the paper. We don’t add any chemicals to our crayons, so remember, if you see any paleness or white lines on the crayons, it’s just the beeswax oils reacting to different temperatures. It doesn’t affect the quality of the crayons. We believe that nature has provided us with a great ingredient and it doesn’t require chemicals to control it. So the beeswax in our crayons will act as nature intended – naturally!

There’s more!

Beeswax has been used by humans for thousands of years. The first use of beeswax has been recorded as long as 6,4000 years BCE! Not surprising really, when you consider how beneficial it is.

Did you know?

Beeswax

  • Is antibacterial
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Can help moisturise and protect the skin
  • Is a good option for sensitive skin
  • The fragrance can help reduce stress and strengthen focus

We really couldn’t find a better ingredient to put into our crayons!

There’s a lot to be grateful for with this natural by-product. The world wouldn’t work without bees and we should all do our part to take care of them. In every pack of crayons, we include a seeded thank you card. This card contains bee friendly flower seeds that you can grow to help keep our little friends well fed.

We would love to know what you think about the lovely smell of beeswax in our crayons.
