It started when received a message from the Charity Bikers MC in Norway. – to combat violence against women and girls. Over the years, they had tirelessly worked on campaigns and partnered with organizations like Fokus Norge and Sanitetskvinnene, primarily focusing on supporting individual women in need.

However, as they shared their experiences with us, they were at a point where they needed a fresh perspective on addressing this significant societal challenge. They decided to shift their focus towards a different group – children. Specifically, children accompanying their caretakers to crisis centres or those admitted to hospitals due to illness, injury, or other reasons.

Their insight was enlightening. In crisis situations, children often find themselves with electronic devices or limited recreational activities like PCs, movies, or gaming platforms. While these activities offered some form of recreation, Charity Bikers MC believed that they often provided limited freedom for the essential processes children needed to begin the healing and coping journey after experiencing crises or facing serious illnesses.

With support from the Elvia Fund, Charity Bikers MC had a simple yet meaningful idea – to provide crayons to these children. These crayons would not only serve as colouring tools but also as sources of comfort and expression. Children admitted to hospitals often face stressful situations, and crayons can be a therapeutic way for them to ease their minds and emotions. Drawing and colouring can offer a calming and creative outlet, helping children navigate through challenging times. These crayons were more than just colours; they were a way for young minds to find solace during difficult moments.

This initiative wasn’t just about providing a physical item; it was about recognising the emotional needs of these young individuals.

In times of crisis or illness, when their world feels overwhelming and uncertain, these crayons offer a sense of control, a tool to bring their imagination to life and offer a gentle alternative to the noise of the digital world.

At the Scandinavian Crayon Company, we are deeply committed to our belief in the therapeutic benefits of drawing, especially during challenging times. This collaboration served as a reminder of the incredible therapeutic power that art and creativity hold.

Looking back on this collaboration, we are thankful for the opportunity to be part of something meaningful. It serves as a reminder that when individuals and organizations come together with a shared purpose, they can create ripples of positive change.

We are grateful to Charity Bikers MC and the Elvia Fund for inviting us to be a part of their journey, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to bring more colour and hope to the lives of those who need it.
